ABSTRACTS

The Africa Interprofessional Education Network (AfrIPEN), in partnership with the University of the Western Cape (UWC), invites the submission of abstracts for the 5th AfrIPEN Conference to be held from 31 August – 3 September 2026 under the theme:

African Wisdom, Global Relevance: Reclaiming Interprofessional Futures

This conference provides a platform for educators, practitioners, researchers, policymakers, and students to share innovative practices, research, and experiences that advance interprofessional education (IPE) and collaborative practice (IPECP) across Africa and beyond.

Conference Subthemes

Abstracts are invited under the following subthemes:

  • Ubuntu in Practice: Indigenous Knowledge and Collaborative Care

  • Context Matters: Designing IPE for African Realities

  • Reclaiming Power: Decolonial Pedagogies in IPE

  • Community-Led Innovation: From Grassroots to System Change

  • Researching with Africa, for Africa: Methodologies and Models that Matter

  • Africa as a Global Contributor: Exporting Interprofessional Excellence

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

Submissions are welcome for:

  • Oral Presentations

  • Poster Presentations

  • Workshops

 

Abstract Submission Guidelines

Abstracts must:

  • Be submitted in PDF or Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx) formaT
  • Be written in English
  • Not exceed 300 words (excluding title and author information)
  • Clearly align with one of the conference subthemes
  • Indicate the preferred presentation format (oral, poster, or workshop)

 

Recommended Abstract Structure:

  • Background / Introduction
  • Objectives
  • Methods / Approach
  • Results / Outcomes
  • Conclusion / Implications

Workshop proposals should additionally include:

  • Workshop objectives
  • Description of participant engagement
  • Intended outcomes
