FOCUS AREA Evaluation

AfrIPEN Evaluation: Advancing Research, Strengthening Resources – Driving excellence in interprofessional education through research, evaluation, and resource development.

Evaluation Focus Area

The Evaluation focus area of AfrIPEN is dedicated to assessing and enhancing the impact of interprofessional education (IPE) and collaborative practice across Africa. Through structured evaluation, we ensure that our initiatives align with global best practices while addressing the unique challenges of the African healthcare and education landscape. This focus area is crucial for driving evidence-based improvements and shaping policies that foster effective interprofessional learning and teamwork.

Within this focus area, two key working groups play a vital role:

1. Research Working Group

The Research working group is committed to advancing the scholarship of IPE and collaborative practice by conducting and supporting rigorous studies. This group focuses on:

  • Generating evidence on the effectiveness of IPE initiatives in Africa
  • Identifying best practices in interprofessional collaboration
  • Publishing findings that inform policy and educational strategies
  • Facilitating research capacity building among AfrIPEN members

Through its work, this group ensures that AfrIPEN remains at the forefront of knowledge production and contributes meaningfully to the global IPE discourse.

2. Resources Working Group

The Resources working group curates and develops high-quality tools and materials to support IPE stakeholders, including educators, students, and practitioners. This group is responsible for:

  • Creating and maintaining a repository of IPE resources
  • Developing guidelines, frameworks, and training materials
  • Facilitating access to evidence-based IPE tools for educators and institutions
  • Supporting capacity building through workshops and knowledge-sharing initiatives

By making these resources widely accessible, this working group empowers institutions and individuals to implement and sustain effective interprofessional education and collaborative practice.

Together, the Evaluation focus area and its Research and Resources working groups drive AfrIPEN’s mission to promote and strengthen interprofessional education across Africa.
